by | Aug 11, 2022 | Videos

You’ve heard of Scott Hahn, and Jeff Cavins, and their work in studying Scripture in the Catholic tradition. Now, get ready for Dustin Quick, and his work that pushes deeper and higher than you imagined. A brand new video course for Catholics everywhere.

Have you ever wondered why everything “made sense” to the Catholic Church and her members “so soon”? Things like the Incarnation, the Communion of Saints, the Eucharist, the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the office of the Papacy?

Join Dustin Quick, host of the “Holy Smokes” YouTube show, a convert through Calvinisim and Islam to Catholicism. He interviews academics, experts, and commentators, such as Margaret Barker, Dr John Bergsma, and The Jewish Catholic.

As you embark upon this riveting journey, you will discover that the Catholic Church – established by the God-Man Jesus Christ, the True Davidic King and Melchizedek High Priest – is the restoration and fulfillment of Solomon’s Temple and the Eternal Covenant of Peace.

Solidarity: commitment to the common good amid structural sin

Solidarity: commitment to the common good amid structural sin

Paul and Dominic discuss the fourth principle of Catholic Social Teaching: solidarity. In this conversation, they explore what the Church teaches about structural sin, the preferential option for the poor, racism, immigration, and care for the environment. These are challenging teachings that call us to envision a world that is healed and transformed by Jesus Christ.

Solidarity must be seen above all in its value as a moral virtue that determines the order of institutions. On the basis of this principle the “structures of sin” that dominate relationships between individuals and peoples must be overcome. They must be purified and transformed into structures of solidarity through the creation or appropriate modification of laws, market regulations, and juridical systems. Solidarity is also an authentic moral virtue, not a feeling of vague compassion or shallow distress at the misfortunes of so many people, both near and far. On the contrary, it is a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good. That is to say to the good of all and of each individual, because we are all really responsible for all. (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church)
