Many (most!) Catholic kids are growing up without knowing religious sisters or brothers. God is certainly calling people to religious life but it is hard to discern what you can’t see. Kids need to be introduced to the beauty and joy and possibility of consecration!
BOOK: THE UNSOLVABLE PROBLEM
The Unsolvable Problem introduces kids to Sr. Mary Andy and her lovable convent of sisters, who encounter a big dilemma as they plan a patriotic picnic for the poor. Along the way, kids will experience convent life, get opportunities to pray to Jesus, and learn what to do when they encounter life’s problems, big and small.
“I never met a religious sister until I went to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. After a long tumultuous discernment process I finally surrendered to God’s will – with joy. And the joy of belonging totally to God as a Bride of Jesus Christ only grows and grows. My own discernment process was slowed down by lack of exposure to religious sisters and lack of accurate knowledge about religious life. God is still calling women to religious life! Women in the 21st century are still offering their lives in Consecration to Jesus through vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. It is difficult to discern a call to be a sister if you have never even seen a sister and do not realize that Religious Life is still viable, joyful way of life. I am on a mission to introduce Catholic Kids to Religious Life …in part through Sr. Mary Andy and the Little Convent in the Big City!”
