Comments from Attendees:
Thank you, Matthew-Hermann, for your honest and very open personal message. I applaud your straightforward courage.
Courageous, transparent, vulnerable and helpful. For those unfamiliar with the Rule of St Benedict (it is available to read for free online in several places), I recommend the following to give non-monks a good taste: A) The Prologue; B) The Instruments of Good Works (Chapter 4); C) The 12 Degrees of Humility (Chapter 7); D) the final 3 chapters (71, 72, 73).
Thank you for your bravery in sharing some of your very personal matters. God bless you.
Matthew-Hermann: My wife and I homeschooled our 8 children. Our homeschool was named “The Blessed Hermann of Reichenau Academy” because of his academic, scientific and spiritual excellence. You are the first one I’ve ever heard mention Bd Hermann !! Bd Hermann, pray for us!
Thank you for being so open and for so many great ideas.
I’ve turned my shower into a prayer closet and my bedtime into time for the Rosary. Thanks to this talk, I’m looking forward to practicing the lectio divina. Thank you for explaining that.
I was astonished by your transparency about your sins, some of which I’m also guilty of. I’ve never heard anyone admit them in public so directly without embarrassment in such a matter-of-fact attitude. Your humility is an inspiration for me to project a realistic image of myself, although I don’t have your courage (yet) to do so in public. Thank you for modeling for us how to be absolutely truthful.
Matthew-Hermann : It was a pleasure to learn from you and as mentioned previously by other attendees, your openness and vulnerability took me by surprise and was very inspirational…I also relate to the anger and lust issues you mentioned and you have provided great examples of how to battle them and win! thank you and God bless you on your continued progress in your own battle. Amen
