We’re building the future of free, Catholic learning!

The SmartCatholics team is building a community around free Catholic courses for the world. As an audience-backed (crowd-funded ) project, you can help a new generation.

Hi friend, I’m Dominic de Souza, SmartCatholics founder and learner-in chief.

I’m a cradle-Catholic in love with Sacred Scripture, Pope Francis, and the story of our Faith. But in 2020, I got frustrated at all the bad news. Catholics are connected by social networks that thrive on narcissim, untruths, and division.

Like you, I stepped up to build an answer. Keep reading…

Like you, I’m not the kind of person to sit and wait for someone else to start.

I knew I wasn’t crazy. I wanted to connect with like-minded people. So I stopped getting mad, and I got creative. I launched an online community.

It was, and will always be, crowd-funded. Audience backed. Grassroots.

It blew up.

SmartCatholics has become the fastest growing network to support Pope Francis and his vision, celebrating kindness as the norm, and encouraging learning and discussion!

And we’re just getting started.

Hundreds of thousands of Catholics around the world have tapped into the genius of Pope Francis, and the need for a renewed hope. We just haven’t met each other.

How am I so sure? Because you’re reading this. Because over 3500+ members joined our free community to inspire each other.  SmartCatholics is an important mission, with a chance to make an amazing difference. We’re breaking the bystander effect, standing up, and taking action.

And that’s the point. We don’t wait for someone else to figure things out.

You and I are the same.

We don’t always know how to start. But we know we have to do something.

So here’s where I need you. All this doesn’t work without your help.

  • I need your help to support this mission, so that we can continue to bring 3500+ Catholics together every week.
  • So that we can continue to produce the monthly magazines that inspire and inform all of our members.
  • So that we can continue to build out new programs, like free livestream shows, and free Catholic courses for everyone, everywhere.

Can you imagine that? Imagine the free, Catholic Udemy, the Catholic Thinkific, the home of free Catholic courses for the world. Hundreds of short and long courses, on all topics.

Here’s how you can help.

2 ways.

You can make a one-off gift of any amount. Or a monthly gift.

But here’s something better.

I launched a private membership community called Mastermind+.

It’s a place for you to ask questions and share insights with the super dedicated, passionate members of our community. Some topics are hard to broach. Here is where you can discuss them.

I am also working with other creators to launch livestreams, to help us create the kind of content that we know the world needs.

When you join, you’re directly helping me keep it all going. And you’re adding fuel to the fire of the Holy Spirit; SmartCatholics is a 100% grassroots movement.

It’s not built around me. It’s not built around a company. It’s built around an vision, and a community.

It’s built around us.

Our vision is to create a home online, a destination for Catholics to regroup in a culture of kindness and learning. Where everyone supports Pope Francis and his titanic work to show us a renewed hope for the Church.

Thank you for helping me uplift the lives of Catholics with a renewed hope. Making concrete content to inspire.

Let’s do our part to make our Faith relatable to modern Catholics.

Let’s bring Christ online.

I love our Smart Catholics Family! Thanks for creating an environment of kindness, respect, learning and support!” – Ruth A.

“Being a part of SmartCatholics is my very FAVORITE social media hangout, and I… thank all those who are helping in so many ways! I love that SmartCatholics is global so that I can make friends with other Catholics around the world.” – Beth S.

“SmartCatholic family only consists of friends.”  -John W.

“I loved your comment that it’s the Facebook for Catholics, but no ads! :)” – Yvette L.

I am impressed by the quality and range of discussion and the app is quite versatile and user-friendly. Keep going; this is a contemporary way to engage Catholics to come forward! Awesome work!” – Adam P.

” In my quest to grow in my faith and practice I have found one particular phrase tumbles off my lips over and over again.  “Wait!  How did I not know that???!!”  But that is part of the beauty and joy of being a smart Catholic.  No matter our age, stage of life, or closeness to sainthood we will always have questions… Being a smart Catholic means engaging our Catholic communities, the Church’s teachings, the help of the saints and our Holy Mother, and the gifts of the Holy Trinity to become even smarter Catholics.” – Nicole S.

The reason why I joined was just so I can scroll a newsfeed and it being beautiful and Catholic rather than Facebook which can be negative or secular. I want to be looking and scrolling something when I’m free that will uplift me. I have now talked with a couple people and it’s super cool being able to network with others.” –  Cassie S.

“Shout out to everyone. I just love to be at SmartCatholics. Thank you all. So inspired of you.” – Hermelyn C.

Smart Catholics are faithful Catholics. It’s important to me to be faithful to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ… He taught us how to be smart Catholics in the first place! If it was important to Him, it should be important to us.” Tiffany B.

“Let us not give up on great dreams.

Let us not settle only for what is necessary. The Lord does not want us to narrow our horizons or to remain parked on the roadside of life. He wants us to race boldly and joyfully towards lofty goals. God made us capable of dreaming, so that we could embrace the beauty of life.

– Pope Francis, Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
King of the Universe – Sunday, 22 November 2020
