At the foot of the Cross, the question might have been asked, where are all the men? Now it may be true that many of the men were not present because of fear. But there may have been other reasons why they were not there that day.
Now just imagine for a moment, the Blessed Virgin Mary gathering the apostles together to have a talk with them about what happened on that fateful day on Calvary’s Hill. I can only imagine Her lovingly reminding and teaching the apostles about the great sermon they missed.
In sports, a coach uses situations where he has his players to review the tapes from game day or to study some film of their opponents. This type of review can help the players to learn from their mistakes and to hopefully develop good strategies to help prevent the same mistakes from occurring again.
In this presentation, Al Smith will share some of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen’s timely wisdom to bring hope to men who continue to fall prey to the vice of the seven deadly sins.
You see, there is a remedy for overcoming the seven deadly sins, and it is found in the wisdom and the power of the Seven Last Words spoken by Jesus Christ from His Cross on Calvary.
When men apply the good counsel given by Our Blessed Lord from the Cross, they will be able to start the healing process and begin to be delivered from the grips of the seven deadly sins.

Comments from Attendees:
As a father of 4 girls I do appreciate your comments on dealing with lustful looks that others give. My daughters are strong and don’t tolerate the catcallls.
I’m interested by the reminder that women we might be drawn to in lust are “someone else’s wife, someone else’s daughter” – personally I think this kind of comment still misses the mark and we should focus on the fact that these women/girls are all God’s children and lusting for them disrespects and demeans their very humanity – loving this talk so far, very thought provoking!
Solid message, one that needs to be heard. I enjoyed the part on Pride.
Good talk. I really liked the part about keeping Mary with you, and not doing anything that she’d be ashamed of.
There are a few books and videos by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen that have opened my eyes. I have used his books on the Virtues, The Seven Deadly Sins and Daily Prayer for years now to guide me. Thank you Al Smith for being that lay person that shares these timely messages from Archbishop Sheen. Even though he wrote a lot of these things in the 1930’s and 1940’s, they still apply today. “Truth never changes.”
Very good talk. Never thought much about only St. John was the only man at the foot of the Cross. Thank you for this very insightful teaching.
Excellent Nuggets of Truth—-Very Well laid out and done a simple storyteller manor—Thank you AL—God Bless…also-Love Bishop Sheen (the well in a bottomless pit)
Great quote from Bishop Sheen—men are afraid to die—because they haven’t practised dying!…we need to die to our selves and do God’s Will–Not Ours!
